WHAT IS SEDATION DENTISTRY?

Sedation dentistry, dental sedation, twilight dentistry – these are all terms that refer to the use of anesthesia and sedatives to create more relaxed, comfortable dental visits. Sedation can be used to control pain, minimize discomfort, and put patients in a state of comfort and ease. We offer sedation to patients who experience:

Local Anesthesia

This is an anesthetic drug that is administered via injection or topical treatment. It is used to block pain and reduce discomfort during a wide range of dental procedures. Once administered to the treatment area, it numbs the teeth and gums throughout the procedure.

Laughing Gas

Nitrous oxide, known commonly as laughing gas, is a colorless, odorless inhalable gas. Laughing gas is administered through a small mask placed on the nose, allowing the dosage to be closely monitored and adjusted throughout the procedure. The gas goes to work quickly, putting the patient in a state of ease and relaxation. Once the gas is shut off, the effects wear off within minutes.
